vicious - short film

The genre i chose to analyze is horror and I chose the short film Vicious by alter on YouTube. The beginning of the short film starts off with a long take of the camera zooming/dollying through her bedroom to come to a bird's eye view of her through her bedroom window. But it could also be a Pov of someone in her house.

She walks up to her door, and it is partially open the keys jingle as the sound, sounded added it is therefore non- diegetic audio, there is then a close of her door handle which is bent suggesting someone is in her house. At 0:54 we then see a straight cut to her NVC being scared and confused. The use of the low-key lighting, nvc and diegetic audio enhances the fear and makes the audience feel suspense

This proves Neals genre theory about repetition in genre, this video was very conventional as it was very silent and dark witch you see often in many horror films. The use of the long shot creates as it was so far away and dak it created a tense eerier scene that was silent and had no music, this would create a significant impact on the audience.

At 1:40 we see her pick up a knife which suggests she is going to attack the intruder. I the cuts to many clips just searching around with a low murmur of music in the background that is slowly getting louder and louder witch could be foreshadowing that something bads going to happen or just to scare the reader.

The use of Trodovs narratorlgy theory as the disequilibrium starts at 0:50 seconds into the film for a horror film this is normal as the equilibrium is not long in the horror genre

in comparison to the romance genre it has no music and the lighting is low-key but in romance it would've been high-key and loads of music to create tension but not the fear and suspense kind.

I wanted it to look eerie and like the person watching was in an oasis.
